Collin's Women rolled over three teams this week, moving to second in conference behind Weatherford, a team they defeated at home, Jan. 23.
The Lady Cougars outscored Weatherford in every quarter of their 93-70 win, excelling in every part of the game. The team continues to tighten up on defense, registering 11 steals and four blocks against the Lady Coyotes, while contesting shots throughout.
Collin shot 53.7 percent from the floor and made 11-24 three-pointers. Destiny Thurman led scoring with 22 and went 3-3 from three-point-land. She was followed by Briana Marshall with 18, and Jordynn Hernandez and Jalah Walton with 13 each. Walton led the team in rebounds with 10.
Collin handled Southwestern Christian College with ease, Jan. 19, winning 107-86 at home (photos). Every player on the team scored in the game, with Thurman again leading with 21. Cardrina Nolen followed with 19, with Marshall putting up 16 to round out top scorers. Thurman, Marshall and Shala Robinson each had three steals, tallying nine of the night's 17.
Mikayla Alexander led the team with 11 assists. Nolen and Christina Baker each had 10 rebounds.
The Lady Cougars faced their toughest test of the week on the road against Grayson College. Collin found itself in a 12-point hole at the end of the first quarter and had to climb their way out over the next three periods. The Lady Cougars finished the night on top, 79-76.
Hernandez led the team with 16, followed by Marshall with 14, then Alexander with 13 and Robinson with 12. Thurman was held to eight points, but went 6-6 from the stripe.
