The Cougars closed out their 2018-19 season with an 82-73 semifinal round loss to national No. 7 Odessa College, March 8.
Collin College was able to pull within 7 points of the Wranglers late in the second half, making a significant comeback after trailing by as many as 19 earlier in the game. The Cougars put together a 26-6 record and finished second in the conference this year.
The Cougars had moved on to the semifinals round of the playoffs Thursday with a 63-60 win over New Mexico Junior College.
NMJC led for the bulk of the game until Collin College pulled ahead in the second half. The teams traded leads after that, but Collin College took the lead for the final time with just over a minute to go. The Thunderbirds couldn't buy a bucket in that time and Mason Hix pulled down a rebound with 22.2 seconds remaining. The Cougars kept the ball alive until Collin's Tajzmel Sherman was fouled with 2.2 seconds remaining. Sherman sank both shots, putting Collin up by 3 points. The Lady Cougars finish their season 23-7 overall and 12-3 in conference, taking second place behind Hill College which also lost in the first round of the regional tournament.
