Collin College Men's Basketball posted big wins in their first two home outings of the season, besting opponents by 50-plus points in each.
The Cougars opened their season with a 118-63 win over Tomball College, Nov. 2. Collin shot 50 percent from the field and 34 percent from behind the arc. Returners Nighel Ceaser and Mason Hix led scoring with 24 and 19 points respectively. Ceaser also led in total rebounds with 17, 10 on offense.
Myles Warren sank three of four three-pointers to follow the point leaders with 12. He was joined by Orion Virden, who also had 12 points.
Collin came out swinging again on Nov. 4, with a 123-66 win over Texas Wesleyan. The Cougars shot 45 percent from the field and pulled down 65 rebounds in the game. The team shot 17-18 from the stripe.
Virden led scoring with 18 points, shooting 6-11 from three-point-land. He was followed by fellow freshman John Achebe, who scored 17. Ceaser, Hix and Addison Wallace scored 16 points apiece in the game.
Collin's Men's Basketball plays two games at home this week, facing off against Angelina College at 8 p.m., Friday, No. 8, and Lee College, at 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9. The games will be played in the Plano Campus (Spring Creek) gym. The teams are visiting Collin College as a part of the 12-team East/West Tournament.
