Destiny Thurman, 5-7 guard for Collin College, signed a letter of intent on Nov. 20 to play for The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) starting 2020-21.

Thurman, recruited to Collin College from Arlington Lamar High School, has been a standout for the Lady Cougars. She averaged 16.1 points per game with 4.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds last season, while shooting 46.6 percent from the field. As a freshman, she was named a National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) second-team All-American and represented Collin College at the Juco Top 40 All-Star game in Atlanta, Georgia in July.

UTEP Women's Basketball Coach Kevin Baker has called her "by far, one of the most talented guards in the country," and said his program will be "heavily impacted when she puts on the Miner uniform next fall." The Miner women play in Conference USA, a Division 1 conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
