The Lady Cougars rallied from a small first half deficit to win 64-57 over New Mexico Junior College. Collin outscored the Lady Thunderbirds 21-10 in the final quarter, clearing the way to face Odessa College in the championship semi-final round.
Overall, Collin had a good shooting night with a 44.4 percent performance from the field. Cydney Rivera led the charge with 17 points, followed by Anyssia Gibbs with 15, and Awatea Leach with nine. Gibbs pulled down eight rebounds and had three treys to make her mark from behind the arc. Lucy Ibeh led all players in total rebounds with nine. Despite a valiant effort, the Collin men's team fell to South Plains College 72-56 in the first round. John Achebe led the Cougars in scoring with 15. He was followed by Nighael Ceaser with 11 and Ta'Veon Sevaaetasi with nine.
The team had a slow shooting night and was not as prolific in its three-point attack as it has been throughout the season, shooting just 16.7 percent from downtown compared to its average 33 percent.
