In an effort to help slow community spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, the remaining Collin College tennis matches for Spring 2020 have been cancelled. The men’s team finished 9-9 and the women’s team finished 8-11.
Collin College’s tennis teams have been battling through some tough competition to start the season, but their performance has been strong according to Coach Marty Berryman.
Collin College’s Women’s Tennis won the Region V Championship and finished ninth in the nation with a strong performance at the National Junior College Athletic Association DI Championship, May 5-9 in Tyler.
Tennis teams picked up wins against the University of the Ozarks and Texas Wesleyan in the run-up to the JUCO Tournament Collin College is hosting April 12-13.
Collin Tennis is in the Top 15 nationally for men and women according to a March 14 poll but has struggled against tough teams in recent matches. Coach Marty Berryman believes the team will improve as the season goes forward.
Collin College’s tennis held its annual Super Six, Feb. 15-17, with Texas Wesleyan, Texas A&M University-Texarkana, Jacksonville College, University of Texas-Permian Basin and Ouachita Baptist coming to Plano Campus.
