Cougars Headed to Postseason

Collin College's men have punched their tickets for postseason play. The team will play in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region V basketball tournament on Thursday, March 3. 

Collin will face Odessa College out of the Western Junior College Athletic Conference at 7 p.m. that day. Fans can watch the action by following this link. The stream is free and open to all. 

The Cougars tied for third in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC) behind McLennan Community College and a surging Hill College. Collin's 8-6 conference record was the same as Temple College. The two teams also split wins at home.   

The Cougars had a short slide against their fellow tournament teams in the week leading up to the postseason, falling 64-54 to McLennan, 83-78 to Temple, and 81-68 to Hill. The Cougars came back with a 77-70 win against Ranger College and a 91-76 win against Grayson College, allowing them to enter the tournament in a winning posture. 

John Achebe led scoring against McLennan with 10 points. He was followed by Robby Williams with 8 points and Daylen Minor with 7. Achebe and Jay Wilson each had a steal and a block in the game. 

Achebe led scoring against Temple, putting up 18 points and six steals in the game. Isaiah Washington followed with 17 points, and Minor rounded out the top three with 10 points. 

Lav Cvetkovic and Minor tied for most points in the Cougars' win over Ranger with 14 apiece. Achebe and Washington each contributed 11 points. Achebe and Thai Elder each had two steals and a block in the game. 

Elder led scoring in Collin's win over Grayson with 17 points for the night, and added two steals and a block. He was followed by Ben Joelson with 15 points and a block, and Achebe with four steals and a block.
