Regular season tennis wrapped up last week with a pair of wins by the men's team and a loss by the women's team, which has been depleted by injuries over the past couple of weeks.

The men's team won 8-1 over Texas Wesleyan University and 6-1 over Weatherford College. Coach Jamie Nanez was pleased with the wins which come a few weeks before the men's national tournament begins at Collin College on May 13.

"We did well, competed hard, and did what we wanted to do," Nanez said. "It was good for them to go out, execute, play hard, and get it done."

The women's team lost its match against Texas Wesleyan. The No. 1, 3, and 6 players were out, forcing others to move up. Nanez said his players battled but it can be hard to move up in a team's lineup at this level of play.

"Injuries are something we just have to navigate in general," Nanez said. "It's just one of those things.

"It's tough to stay positive, but they did a good job of it."

The women's team will play in the women's national tournament in Tyler beginning on May 6.
