Collin College Women's Basketball picked up one win but lost against two tough opponents as they continue their season-opening road series. The Lady Cougars will make their 2024 home debut at the Collin College Classic, Nov. 29-30.

Collin won 62-52 over Angelina College, a perennially strong team, on Nov. 8. The Cougars took control of the game in the second half after a tight first two quarters that saw them trailing 27-23. Taliah Martin, a freshman forward out of Irving, led all scorers with 18 points, followed by returners Alisha Nunley and Kenzie Willis-Gusters with 15 points and 9 points respectively. Nunley, who signed with Old Dominion University this week, led all shooters in three-pointers with a 60% performance. Both she and Olivia Grgicevich-Lassey had blocks in the game.

The Cougars lost 77-69 to the nationally ranked Kilgore Lady Rangers on Nov. 9. Nunley contributed 18 points and two blocks to the effort, followed by Willis-Gusters, who added 13 points. Grgicevich-Lassey had 11 points and five steals.

The No. 11 Lady Rangers only took slightly more shots from the field, but made their free throw shooting count, sinking 21-of-27 from the stripe to give them the scoring edge. Collin had only 13 trips to the line, of which they sank 11 buckets.

The Cougars lost their closest game of the year against Paris Junior College on Nov. 20. Ella McLeod led the team in scoring with 17 points, followed by Grgicevich-Lassey with 11 points. Nunley and Willis-Gusters each had 10 points.

While Collin led 40-30 at the half, the Lady Dragons battled back in the second half, outscoring Collin in both frames.

The Cougars' next game wraps up their road games for a while with a trip to Blinn College on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Collin College basketball fans are encouraged to attend two days of basketball action, at the Collin College Classic, featuring top men's and women's teams from around the area.
