Collin College Women's Basketball picked up wins over Ranger College and Hill College, continuing a triumphant start to North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC) play. The Cougars will face their toughest conference opponent so far when they travel to play McLennan Community College this weekend.

Collin defeated Ranger 68-61 in a tight game on Jan. 15. While Ranger had the lead after a quarter, Collin kept its turnovers in check and won the battle of the boards to turn the game around. The Cougars shot a respectable 38.7% from the field and made 4-of-10 from behind the three-point line, but really made buckets count from the penalty stripe. The team sank 16-of-23 from the free throw line, sinking seven more baskets than the visitors.

Leading scorers for the game were Alisha Nunley with 20 points, followed by Taliah Martin, a 6-foot-1-inch forward out of Irving, who had 13 points, and Kenzie Willis-Gusters with 10 points. Nunley, who was named the NTJCAC Player of the Week earlier that day, also led the team in rebounds with 12 and tied with Olivia Grgicevich Lassey in steals with three. The Player of the Week honor was Nunley's second of the year.

Collin picked up an 83-46 win on Jan. 22. Nunley again led all scorers with 21 points, followed by fellow returner Willis-Gusters, who had 18. Rounding out the top three was Ella Macleod with 11 points. Almost all of the Cougars scored in the game, with the team shooting an amazing 60% from the field and sinking 7-of-9 from the free throw line.

The Cougars will face McLennan, which is ranked No. 8 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Coaches Poll, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 in Waco. Fans who want to watch the game can travel to the event or watch the livestream online by clicking on the camera icon on the team schedule.
