Collin College just picked up a pair of significant wins in basketball – notching a W over a nationally ranked opponent and, in another game, putting up big numbers against a conference member.

The women's team knocked conference rival McLennan Community College out of the National Junior College Athletic Conference (NJCAA) Coaches Poll's top 10 with a 75-63 win on the road. The win provides further proof that the team can win in big games and in hostile territory.

The Cougars jumped out to an 8-point lead in the first quarter and outscored McLennan in the next two frames. Alisha Nunley led the team in scoring with 22 points. She was followed by Kenzie Willis-Gusters with 16 and Olivia Grgicevich Lassey with 13. The team shot 44.8% from the field and sank 6-of-14 three-pointers in the game.

The win put Collin atop the leaderboard with a 6-0 record, and McLennan close behind at 5-1.

Collin put up a 100-47 win over Southwestern Christian College at home a few days later. Every Cougar player added points in the game, and each pulled down at least one rebound.

Nunley led again with 18 points but was followed closely by Lassey with 18 and Jayden Smallwood with 14 points. No player had less than 3 points.
