Women's Basketball drops two in conference play

Collin College Women's Basketball added a win and two losses over the past two weeks of conference play. The team retains the No. 3 spot in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC).

Starting the month off on the right foot, the Cougars picked up a 63-49 win over Cisco College at home. Kenzie Willis-Gusters led the team in scoring with 13 points, followed by Sara Basaran with 12 points and Olivia Grgicevich Lassey with 9. The team shot a solid 37.9% from the field and sank seven-of-12 three-pointers in the game.

Collin lost 61-51 to the Grayson College Lady Vikings on the road four days later. Grayson played strong defense in the game, contributing to Collin shooting 29.8% from the field. Grayson went up early in the game and held on for the win.

Alisha Nunley put up 21 points for Collin. She was followed by Lassey with 8 points and Ella Macleod with 7.

The Cougars had a much tighter game against Weatherford College but lost 72-69 after a fourth quarter run by the Lady Yotes. Collin had taken a 6-point lead in the third quarter after tying the visitors at the half.

Collin shot a strong 49.5% from the field and 35.7% from beyond the arc, with Nunley again leading the charge on offense. Nunley had 19 points, followed by Lassey with 15 points and Basaran with 9. Taliah Martin pulled down 11 rebounds in the game to lead the team in that metric.

The Cougars will host Temple on Feb. 12, with the women's game starting at 5 p.m. The team will hit the road for the following two weeks.
