The Collin College men's basketball team (12-3) defeated Weatherford College 65-50 in both teams' conference opener on Jan. 7, 2026. 

KEY PLAYERS

• David Chong led the team with 23 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including 1-of-2 from three-point range and 8-of-11 from the free-throw line. He added six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
• Jayden Ramnanan finished with 14 points, shooting 3-of-12 from the field and 2-of-8 from beyond the arc. He went 6-of-7 at the free-throw line and added four rebounds, two assists and three steals.
• David Emelife recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. He shot 2-of-5 from the field and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line.
• Kevin Paul added 11 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting performance, along with four rebounds and one block.
• Nick Gunter contributed six rebounds and two assists.
• Fabian Pommells provided a spark off the bench with three points and a team-high five assists.
• Tyreese Perry-Huggins added two points, four rebounds and one block.
• Travis Fralin pulled down three rebounds.
• Brandt Evanson contributed one rebound and one assist.

GAME NOTES
• David Chong recorded his sixth straight game with 2 or more steals. Chong has recorded steals in 14 of 15 games he's appeared in. He recorded his highest field goal percentage (77.8%) of the season.
• Kevin Paul continued his five-game streak with at least one block. Paul has recorded at least one block in 14 of the 16 games he's appeared in.
• David Emelife was perfect at the free-throw line (8-8) marking his sixth game this season shooting 100% at the free-throw line.

As a team, the Cougars:
• Went 26-of-36 from the free-throw line (72.2%).
• Held a 38–29 rebounding advantage.
