The Collin College Men's Basketball team (14-4, 2-1) dropped its first conference game to Ranger College 85-83 on Jan. 14 at Ranger.
KEY PLAYERS
• Jayden Ramnanan led the team with 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including 4-of-12 from three-point range and a perfect 3-of-3 from the free-throw line. He added five assists and three steals.
• David Chong finished with 21 points, shooting 5-of-9 from the field and 4-of-6 from beyond the arc while going a perfect 7-of-7 at the free-throw line. He added four assists, four rebounds and two steals.
• Kevin Paul contributed 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting and pulled down six rebounds.
• Nick Gunter added 10 points on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting performance, along with five rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
• David Emelife chipped in six points and four rebounds.
• Cortlin Siska provided a strong all-around effort off the bench with six points, four assists, four steals and one block.
• Tyreese Perry-Huggins grabbed seven rebounds and added two points.
• Fabian Pommells recorded one assist, while Travis Fralin and Kai Bryant each added a rebound.
GAME NOTES
• David Chong had his second-highest scoring game (21 points), record is 23 points vs Weatherford on Jan. 7). Chong also recorded two steals, making that a nine-game streak of two steals per game or more.
• Jayden Ramnanan tied his career-best in points (23).
• Cortlin Siska had a career-high four steals.
As a team, the Cougars:
• Shot 52.6% from the field (30-of-57).
• Connected on 41.7% from three-point range (10-of-24).
• Went 13-of-15 from the free-throw line (86.7%).
• Recorded their second game in a row with 10 steals.
