The No. 20 Collin College women's basketball team (20-4, 10-1) defeated Ranger College, 76-55, on Feb. 14 at Collin College. Collin is currently in first place in the conference standings, followed by Grayson College at 9-1 and McLennan Community College at 7-3.
KEY PLAYERS
• Ella Macleod led the team with 15 points on 5-of-13 shooting, including 1-of-6 from three-point range, and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. She added two assists and one steal.
• Mufaro Mapengo provided a big spark off the bench with 14 points on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting performance, going 2-of-2 from three-point range. She also contributed two rebounds and two assists.
• Sara Basaran recorded 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting, including 1-of-2 from beyond the arc, while adding six rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks in an all-around effort.
• Taliah Martin finished with eight points and six rebounds (two offensive), along with one steal and one block.
• Gabby Morales added seven points, two rebounds and two assists.
• Abby Sokolova scored seven points on a perfect 2-of-2 from the field and 1-of-1 from three-point range, adding two rebounds off the bench.
• Olivia Grgicevich Lassey totaled six points, two rebounds, four steals and one block.
• Trinity Thomas contributed four points, two rebounds, one assist and two steals.
• Georgia Alford chipped in three points and one rebound.
• Maya Fowler recorded one assist and one steal in reserve minutes.
GAME NOTES
• Sara Basaran recorded three steals and two blocks. Basaran has had at least one steal in all but six of her 24 games played.
• Olivia Grgicevich Lassey recorded four steals. Lassey has had at least one steal in eight consecutive games and has had at least one steal in all but four of her 23 games played. Lassey is ranked 9th in steals in the conference with 25.
• Mufaro Mapengo tied her career-high in points in a single game (14).
• Ella Macleod had one steal, marking her fourth straight game with at least one steal.
