Sara Basaran, a 6-foot sophomore from Malmo, Sweden, earned Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors after helping the Cougars to a 3-0 record during the week of Feb. 9.

 

In three games, Basaran shot 50 percent from the field (15 of 30), made two 3-pointers and converted 10 of 14 free-throw attempts while averaging 14 points and eight rebounds per game. She totaled 42 points and 24 rebounds for the week, adding nine assists, four steals and seven blocks.

 

Basaran recorded a career-high five blocks against Temple College on Feb. 11. She also posted 19 points and 10 rebounds against Temple College for her seventh double-double of the season.

 

Sara Basaran is in the top-5 in the conference in three categories:

• 2nd – defensive rebounds (75)

• 3rd – blocks (15)

• 5th – total rebounds (98)
