Head Women's Volleyball Coach | Collin College

From the bustling courts of Beijing to collegiate volleyball programs across the United States, Grace Wells has built a career defined by excellence, resilience, and a passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the court.

Coach Wells began her volleyball journey in Beijing, China, where her talent and work ethic earned her a position on the Chinese National Team in 2003. That same year, she helped lead her team to a gold medal at the FIVB U18 World Championship. Competing internationally provided her with valuable experiences that shaped her leadership philosophy and deep appreciation for teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.

Seeking new opportunities and challenges, Wells moved to the United States and continued her playing career at Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas, on a full athletic scholarship. During her time there, she established multiple school records, earned NJCAA All-American honors, and completed an Associate Degree in General Studies.

She later transferred to the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California, also on a full athletic scholarship. While competing at the collegiate level, Wells earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, successfully balancing athletics and academics.

Following graduation, Wells began her coaching career as the Head Volleyball Coach at Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas. In her first season, her team achieved a historic milestone by winning every home match and setting a new program standard for success.

She later accepted the head coaching position at Dallas College–Richland Campus, where she transformed the program into a nationally recognized contender. Under her leadership, the team earned one of the top records in NJCAA Division III, achieved a Top-9 national ranking, produced NJCAA All-Americans, and maintained a 100% graduation rate among sophomore student-athletes.

Now entering her second season as Head Women's Volleyball Coach at Collin College, Wells continues to build a culture centered on accountability, academic achievement, and competitive excellence. In the program's first full season under her leadership, the Cougars finished eighth in the NJCAA Region 5 North (NTJCAC) standings, establishing a strong foundation for future success and continued growth within one of the nation's most competitive junior college volleyball conferences.
