Since the 2014-15 season, the Collin College Women's Basketball program has established itself as one of the premier programs in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference and Region 5 under the leadership of Head Coach Jeff Allen. During that span, the Cougars have captured seven conference championships, won the 2023-24 Region 5 Championship, and advanced to back-to-back NJCAA National Tournament appearances in 2023 and 2024. The 2023-24 team set a school record with 30 victories and finished as one of the most successful teams in program history.
Allen has built a culture centered on academic achievement, athletic excellence, leadership, and student development. Throughout his tenure, more than 75 student-athletes have earned opportunities to continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year institutions. His commitment to student success has helped numerous players earn scholarships while preparing them for success both on and off the court.
A native of Le Grand, Iowa, Allen began his collegiate playing career at Marshalltown Community College under Coach Mike Marquis before earning a basketball scholarship to Drake University, where he played for Coach Rudy Washington. During his senior season, Allen led the Bulldogs in scoring and was later selected to Drake University's All-Decade Team for the 1990s as part of the institution's celebration of 100 years of intercollegiate basketball.
Allen graduated from Drake University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and later earned a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University-Commerce. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he serves as a full-time faculty member in the Kinesiology Department at Collin College, where he teaches and mentors students pursuing careers in health, fitness, recreation, and athletics.
Jeff and his wife, Kim, reside in Allen, Texas, and are the proud parents of two sons, Zach and Luke.
